Aniverse Updates

Recently I started to rework on the old default theme due to the fact that it had some already-set features, plus it was much easier to customize than the Chameleon theme. There are also some minor updates which I would like to cover as well as some future updates which will be coming very soon to Aniverse. I would advice all my readers, lurkers, users, and fans of Aniverse to please take the time to read the updates. Also if you are able to, feedback and comments will be very much appreciated.

I'll start off with the minor updates which have taken effect already at the time of this writing. You will immidiately notice that I have changed the theme. If you still see the Chameleon theme (Dark Theme, Dark colors, mostly black with red text and links, very ecchi picture banner on top showing an anime girl's camel-toe) then there's two options:

Non-user/Not registered:

-> Clear your cookies and cache on your browser. Ctrl+F5 usually fixes the issue.

User/Registered:

-> You will need to go to your account settings, click the Layout & Language Tab and click on the drop-down box next to "Theme" and select "Nouveau"

If you see the updated theme then there is nothing you need to do. How would you know you are looking at the right theme if you are not a user? Just follow the above step for Non-users.

Updated Default Theme:

There are a few minor updates or changes that I made on the theme. While it still looks the same, with the same text colors, same link colors, and same background, I have changed the banner heading. I made it bigger, as well as add 4 additional rotating banners, making it a total of 5 banners for this theme.

You said rotational, but everytime i refresh the page or click to go to another page, it still shows the same picture/banner. What gives?
It's true I said rotational banner, but the type of rotational banner I have set up does NOT rotate on every page load. Instead, it changes the banner pic in certain time slots. At a certain time of the day or night it will change banner. Which banner you see depends on the time of day you access Aniverse.

Another small never-noticed-by-visitors feature is the pop-up tips. Take the logo for example, I'm sure most of you are not fully able to read the text because I haven't been able to find the right color to show well with the banner picture. Instead of trying to figure out what it says, just hover your mouse over the text or link and a pop-up box will show telling you what that is. Simple yes? This also works on the forums. Not everything on Aniverse has that feature YET but slowly but surely I will be trying to work on this.

Front-page Rotator:

For those of you who are reading this and came through the front-page of Aniverse, will have immidiately noticed a rotating image thingy with text. For those who are reading this through a RSS feed, please right-click "Home" on the top menu and click "New tab" or "New Window" to view the rotating image thingy with text. This is a second attempt in using this feature which I took off during the beginning of Aniverse V4 because users disliked it due to unable to properly read the text as well as "seemed out of place". I'm trying to give this a second try because I believe I could use this feature for many things and could provide useful. If you would like to provide feedback on this, please do so, email me or please comment below with your thoughts.

User Submitted Stories:

That's right all you otaku. Aniverse is opening its doors and letting you take the chance to submit your own story here. It's still pretty early for Aniverse since there isn't a community yet here in Aniverse. But if you want to take your chance in having your voice heard in a growing website like Aniverse, then all there is to do is register (its free) and the "Submit News" button will be on the top menu. There will be some rules to follow so things don't get out of hand, which I will make a post about that later.

Future Aniverse Updates:

Be on the look out for future updates that will take place here at Aniverse. While at the moment I have no set date, all I can say it will be soon. Some of these updates will be either some or all of the following: Bug-fixes, rating system on the articles/polls/downloads etc, a new flash-based uploader to replace the old and no longer supported Juploader, a more customized registration process as well as custom profile editing for users, update the CAPTCHA system, and a social networking add-on.

As you can see, Aniverse will be getting some new features as well as updates from existing features. I will notify everyone when these updates will take place as I will have to take the site down/maintenance mode to apply these updates.
