Miki Hoshii Review!

Figures

Hello Aniverse readers! Nice to meet you all, my name is Frances Delgado and I’m going to review figures for you all! Hmm, maybe you’ve heard of me before from my own personal figure review site Howagirlfigures.com or as the figure correspondent on AX Live at anime-expo.org/ax-live. Well our good friends at Otaku Mitsukai have sent over the Revoltech Hoshii Miki for review! I bring her to you and I’ve got to say that while I tend to be kind on figure reviews, it’s been hard to find a kind word for Miki.

First complaint right off the bat is her arm, might only be my copy but her arm won’t stay in the elbow joint! You’ll notice in this review there is only one image of her with both arms and I’d qualify that image as a miracle as it wouldn’t stay on the entire time! Do you have your own copy of Miki and does she do the same or is it only mine?

You can however change her face to the shorter brown haired version of her, I do like how they also changed the face and made her not so smiling, but then I prefer my figures smiling so once I figure out how to get her arm to stay on I’d display her as a blonde if only for the bright smile.

The addition of the giant cat paws are pretty adorable, but such a pain to remove her hand to get the paw on. The plug kept coming out of her arm and not wanting to leave her hand, so frustrating!!

Nice close up of the details on her paw, plus a little more of her body, she is such a skinny girl and the skirt didn’t do her hips justice at all!

I loved the wings on the boots, very reminiscent of Card Captor Sakura and her having the wings on her feet later on in the series. I do wish there was a better way to keep the wings on her boots, they kept falling off and dropping, I’m almost tempted to glue them on since I like them so much but then if I want to display her without them I wouldn’t be able to. I don’t like having to glue items onto my figures just to be able to display them properly.

As I mentioned with the skirt, I feel it gives her the illusion of having hips bigger than her own. I don’t think it’s really as flattering as they could have made it.

The ribbons on the back were very very cute, but I didn’t understand the holes on her back, it didn’t seem that the base would fit inside and they felt very out of place.

I hate that my first figure review for you is a negative one, really I would not buy this figure, even as a fan I’d avoid it. There are much better figures of Miki Hoshii out there, of course they are static PVC figures and not action figures. I as well was never a huge fan of Fraulien Revoltechs either. As the 9th in the series of Fraulien Revoltechs it’s a bit to be expected for them to have some issues, so I’d possibly expect newer Frauliens to be better made but I’m having too many issues with my own to be able to recommend her. I also may be very biased in that while I’m a figure collector I’ve always leaned to static PVC figures compared to action figures. I have seen some people who have this exact figure and they pose her so adorably that maybe if you’re better at posing and fixing little issues like her arm. Then maybe she would be a nice figure for you. But for me, I’ll be passing.
