Queen's Blade: The Afterthought

Anime

I recall writing an article about giving Queen's Blade a chance to redeem itself of not being senseless ecchi anime. Both me and my wife have watched so far 7 episodes and there are a few things to be said about Queen's Blade and also what others say about this show also. So is it really an anime not worth watching?

After watching 7 episodes, I can say it was worth giving this anime the chance.

I have come across people who have discontinued watching this series all because the first 5 minutes of the show has a girl spewing out acid from her breasts. I mean, really, we are talking about Japan here, I've seen much more weirder things from other anime shows than acid-spewing-from-breasts girls. If you judge the show just because of something like that, then you fail. Now if extreme ecchi, to the point of nipples showing and camera angles on the nether regions of females, is not your thing then I can understand why you wouldn't want to watch it.

(Natsuneko: The above is not directed to you. Sorry if it sounds that way.)

Now, the reason its worth watching is because it actually has a story behind its extreme ecchiness. Recap of the story:

In 4 years time the competition that will decide who the next Queen shall be will start. The strongest warrior will continue to rule the country according to tradition and expand it. The contestants need only be older than 12 years. They need not be human, intelligent or even of that country. The rules for the tournament are simple: murder is allowed. Any weapon can be chosen. The winner is decided when one of the participants flees or can't move anymore. Such event is broadcasted through a crystal sphere by the court's magic teacher to all population to see and enjoy.

And yes it does still follow to its story along with the ecchi, which is like having friends with benefits but without the sex. =) That might be the wrong analogy, i don't know, but i don't care either lol.

Haha, no worries. Although I must've been the key vocal player there, I only feel remotely concerned. ;)

Nevertheless, my point still stands: even if it's stuff from ominous Japan which has seen much worse, it doesn't mean I have seen or liked it, plus it still doesn't justify why a potentially good story should be ruined with all kinds of service and corrosive gimmicks like in Queen's Blade. And yes, I acknowledge it's from an H-game, but as so many series have originated from the same genre, they generally solve this problem better than QB does. As much as I (might have) wanted to, I just could not ignore the disgust I experienced just by watching the first couple of minutes of it. Granted, my own personal preferences might render me extremely biased, and I tried not to judge this particular book by its cover, but the first pages simply gave me an execrable first impression.

I might elaborate on this (perhaps conservative) concept of mine in a future post if I'm inspired enough (and if I come across more similar anime, too).
